According to TerpyZ X KalySeeds, Vino Tinto is a tenth-generation duckfoot line with green leaves and red veins. The breeders report mosaic patterns, grey stripes and light variegation in about 30% of plants, as well as occasional dwarf plants with heavily altered leaves.

History
According to TerpyZ X KalySeeds, the line was selected for ten generations from the duckfoot line Indian Summer. The breeders describe purple stems in many seedlings, followed by dark green leaves with a bluish tint. On 31 January 2022 TerpyZ uploaded photos of Vino Tinto to SeedFinder. According to the breeders, The Ugly Duck was selected from the Vino Tinto and Pablo Picasso populations.
