Description and facts
The Ferramington mutant is a fibre hemp plant of the Ferramington variety with webbed leaves, whose photograph Walter Scott Malloch published in The Journal of Heredity in 1922. The leaflets are fused into a palmately cleft leaf, and extra tissue between the midribs makes it folded and wavy.

History
The Ferramington variety was bred by Lyster Dewey of the US Department of Agriculture from a 1916 cross: Italian hemp from Ferrara was pollinated by the Kymington variety. The mutant plant was sent to Malloch by L. H. Dewey and Professor A. H. Wright of the University of Wisconsin, and Malloch presented it as an example of an inherited leaf mutation. Later Roberto Savelli in Italy obtained seeds of the webbed Ferramington, compared them with the same mutation in Ferrara hemp and concluded that it is the same trait, pinnatifidofilla.
